Why the drive to Săliștea de Sus is worth it
The indoor pool in Săliștea de Sus sits in the middle of the valley: 8 minutes from Dragomirești, 12 from Bogdan Vodă, 18 from Ieud, 31 from Vișeu de Sus, 40 from Leordina. Lessons run from June to October, while the centre's pool is open.

The drive from Dragomirești to the pool
Dragomirești is the locality closest to the pool: 5 km on the DJ186, about 8 minutes by car or an easy bike ride in summer. Children from Dragomirești can join any of the afternoon groups.
The town hosts the Museum of the Romanian Peasant Woman of Maramureș, and the guesthouses around it welcome families who come for the Iza valley in summer.

The drive from Bogdan Vodă to the pool
From Bogdan Vodă you go down the DJ186 through Dragomirești and reach Săliștea de Sus in about 12 minutes, 8 km of straight road along the Iza. The pool is at the entrance to the town from Dragomirești, on Strada Fântâna Rece.
Bogdan Vodă, the old Cuhea of voivode Bogdan, has one of the old wooden churches of Maramureș. Families staying here for a week can combine the visits with the afternoon lessons of the intensive course.

The drive from Ieud to the pool
From Ieud the road runs through Bogdan Vodă and Dragomirești on the DJ186, 12 km in about 18 minutes. The 17:00 and 18:00 groups leave time for school and for the drive.
Ieud has two wooden churches; the Church on the Hill is a UNESCO site and kept the Ieud Codex. The village guesthouses welcome families in summer, for whom the one-week intensive course was designed.

The drive from Vișeu de Sus to the pool
From Vișeu de Sus the road to Săliștea de Sus runs through Vișeu de Jos on the DJ186: 16 km, about 31 minutes on a valley road. The 17:00 and 18:00 groups and Saturday mornings are the ones parents from Vișeu choose.
Vișeu de Sus is the town of the Mocănița steam train on the Vaser valley, the most visited attraction in the area. Families staying here for a week can combine a day on the Mocănița with the afternoon lessons of the intensive course.

Where do the lessons take place?
All lessons take place in one spot: the indoor pool of Centrul Recreativ Săliștea de Sus, Strada Fântâna Rece 1A, Săliștea de Sus. We have no venues in other localities.
How long is the drive to the pool?
Between 8 minutes from Dragomirești and about 40 minutes from Leordina. Each locality below has the distance, the time and a Google Maps directions button.
Are there times that suit anyone coming from far away?
Yes. Afternoon groups start at 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00, Saturday mornings at 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00. For anyone coming from farther away we match the time to the drive and to school, and Saturday allows a double lesson.
